The Director
Dr Janie Smith, Director, is a highly experienced health educationalist and project manager. She is often the person sought to develop difficult health educational projects that require innovation, significant change and thinking outside the square.
Janie has worked extensively in national curriculum development, program accreditation, educational resource development, policy development, Indigenous health and research. She works across the health disciplines – medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, and in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker education.
In 2004 she established RhED Consulting Pty Ltd and has lead numerous consultancies that involved developing accredited undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, program evaluation, project management and innovative workforce development to the level of professional accreditation. Janie is an adjunct Associate Professor at James Cook University in Townsville Qld, and Southern Cross University in Lismore NSW. She holds numerous qualifications including a Master of Primary Health Care Degree and a Doctorate in Education. She is well published and has won awards for her plain English writing. She is author of the very successful Australia’s rural and remote health: A social justice perspective, published by Tertiary Press in 2004, the 2nd edition of which was published in March 2007.
