NORTHERN TERRITORY REVIEW OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The NT Department of Health and Families has commissioned RhED Consulting Pty Ltd to undertake a Review of Nursing and Midwifery Education and Training across the Northern Territory.

What are the aims of the review?

The review aims to evaluate the access, coordination and integration of nursing and midwifery education and training across the Northern Territory, including studies assistance. The Review will make recommendations on the future of nursing and midwifery education and training across the NT, in providing for a contemporary workforce and integration across education and health, government and non-government sectors. Who should be involved?

  • The employers of nurses and midwives across the NT – both government and non-government

  • The providers of nursing and midwifery education and training, and

  • The nursing and midwifery workforce.

How can I contribute?

We invite all nurses – child and family health nurses, renal nurses, hospital nurses, community nurses, remote area nurse, midwives, students, their educators, managers, employers to contribute to this review, though an interview, focus group or electronic survey.

Consultation Process

Interviews and focus groups are being conducted face to face in:

  • Alice Springs – 21st – 23rd September

  • Darwin – 14th – 25th September, 2009

  • Katherine – 22nd September

  • Nhulunbuy – 21st September

  • Tennant Creek – 24th September.
